In mid 2008, longtime friends Lori Frazee and Paula Nicks joined forces to purchase a saw mill from a friend whose business interests had changed. Lori and Paula are both woodturners and saw the mill as a unique opportunity. Through mutual friends, they had access to a lot of local Florida trees. A large portion of the wood available was in crotch form, thus the name Florida Crotch Wood. In January of 2009, Florida Crotch Wood became a legal entity, Florida Crotch Wood, Inc.
Our original vision was to create large turning rounds for the woodturning community, and that vision continues to grow and change.
In July of 2009, Lori's primary business took a major leap forward, which required all of her time. Cutting wood and hanging with her turning buddies needed to be temporarily postponed. Lori's business savvy and winning personality are missed by ALL.
Supplying the woodturning community with rounds and flat stock continues to be our main focus. We are branchingg out into the slab table and counter top market. These products are kiln-dried to increase stability. If you are looking for kiln-dried lumber not found in the big box stores, we can help.
Our original vision was to produce unique, quality products at reasonable prices and offer unsurpassed service to our customers, and we remain committed to that original vision.
